Perry Announces White House Bid
Talk about stepping all over the Iowa Straw Poll, Gov. Rick Perry went to announce his presidential bid in South Carolina at a conference of conservative bloggers in Charleston. Here’s how it unfolded on Twitter.
There was early anticipation throughout the Twittersphere (of Austin political reporters) for Perry’s announcement.

Perry then laid into the President again.

Perry for President
How the news of the Texas Governor announcing his campaign will launch on Saturday broke on Twitter, temporarily drowning out the news of another volatile day on Wall Street and overshadowing all of the GOP hopefuls in Iowa.
FOX managed to tweet the obvious and called it an exclusive. Everyone in Texas had been reporting that Perry was going to enter the presidential field, it was just the date and location that remained uncertain.

CNN offered the first new details of the when and where - RedState bloggers conference in South Carolina on Saturday. Previously, aides to the Governor had just said that Perry would use the speech to make it clear he was going to enter the race at another date and time.

While it was no secret that Perry was going to say something firming up his intentions to run for the White House, no one was expecting confirmation from a Perry spokesman today.

Warming Up to a Presidential Run
Gov. Rick Perry speaks to the National Conference of State Legislature just a couple of days before he’s expected to announce that he’s going to announce in South Carolina that he’s planning to seek the Republican nomination to run for the presidency.

Gov. Perry arrived on the stage and immediately hit on his theme of states rights and attacks on the federal government.

While the line is a great piece of political rhetoric there are questions about its accuracy.

Perry then pivoted from talking about federal spending to pointing out how the state balanced its budget with only spending cuts and without touching the Rainy Day Fund.

Perry then slammed Washington (read: the President and Democrats) over the downgrade to the nation’s debt by Standard & Poors.
